Licensing Overview
In order to practice as a skincare specialist, there are licensing requirements in place. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, every skincare specialist is required to be licensed by their particular state. Every state has its own specific rules and regulations in place for skincare licensing, it is essential for you to conduct your own research into the requirements in your state. Generally, a skincare professional is required to complete specific state-approved training that requires all applicants to pass a licensing exam. In most states, the law requires skincare specialists to be at least 16 years old and have a 10th grade education at minimum to qualify for licensure, although there are a number of states that require a specialist to have completed a high school education or the equivalent, and be at a minimum age of 17.
