It is necessary to undergo specific training through an authorized training facility to become an eyebrow technician. This formal training is slightly different depending on the state you reside in, with minimum requirements set by each state’s licensing board or the Board of Education. All training includes theory work related to specific board requirements, as well as the completion of a set number of practical hours. The training to become an eyebrow technician is often within larger training packages such as beautician courses, or they are offered as stand-alone opportunities. There are three main types of techniques used by eyebrow technicians – waxing, plucking and threading – each with their own training requirements. Generally, these techniques are taught separately, so you will need to conduct some research into each type to see what suits your style. Most courses will not only teach you the specifics of how to shape eyebrows in your chosen technique, but also how to help disguise imperfections such as gaps in hair coverage, as well as hygiene practices to keep you and your clients safe.
